Although the European Union is committed to producing 10 percent of its energy in renewables by 2020, UN experts have claimed that despite being headlined as a magic solution to global warming, biofuels are a less efficient way than originally believed of reducing greenhouse gases.

Watch US airlines test bio fuel flights Video US airlines test bio fuel flights
Apr 24, 2012
Some US airlines have begun testing enviromentally friendly fuel. And while the efforts may help the environment, unlike in the European Union, the US government does not force airliners to go green. The ecological benefits would be undeniable - just one year's avaiation traffic fuelled by bio fuel would equal removing 64000 cars off the road. But making the switch can be expensive and there are no long-term plans for companies to use alternative fuel on a regular basis. Al Jazeera's John Terrett reports from Washington.

Thanks for checking out my video PLEASE NOTE: This is **NOT** intended as an exhaustive how-to tutorial. There are many such how-to tutorials online, just google "how to make your own biofuel" and you'll get great results. I do hope this can give you an idea of how simple the process can be, once you've gathered all the materials and are sure to take all appropriate safety precautions! But please do not try to do it on your own based solely on the info gathered in this video. I do welcome questions, would be glad to help you if I can! I spent many hours gathering the materials (from ordering chemicals online all the way down to buying sandwich baggies at Target) and going through the careful process of making the biofuel. What I made was only my first test batch. As of the publishing of this video, I haven't even gotten to try the fuel out in a diesel engine. I will be pursuing that opportunity, though, and will post any updates when I have them. My interest was discovering what the process is like and how feasible I felt it might be to a layperson like myself to make biofuel on a regular basis (I am NOT in the SLIGHTEST an expert in chemistry, mechanics, etc.). The video is roughly divided into three parts: 1. a snapshot of the process in action, 2. & 3. two different sections of concluding thoughts.

A video of QF1211 landing at then taking off from Adelaide Airport. It then departs as QF1120 back to Sydney (and no, it did not have a flock of seagulls following it, despite the fuel being old fish and chip oil!) This was Australia's first flight in which a biofuel was used. One of the General Electric CF6 engines was run on a 50-50 mix of regular Jet-A1 fuel and a blend of refined cooking oil imported from the USA. Apparently, this fuel costs alot more than regular Jet-A1, but Qantas absorbed the cost so that it will hopefully incur more research and refinement into its production and infrastructure and hopefully one day we will have a sustainable Bio-Fuel that doesnt suffer the price volatility that Jet-A1 has. The Aircraft used was a Airbus A330-200, built and leased to Qantas in 2010 and carries the rego VH-EBP The Captain of the flight, Phil Davenport was quoted as saying; "Flight captain Phil Davenport said the aircraft handled just the same as any other. "There was no real difference on the way over apart from a very slight reduction in the fuel flows on the engine that was using it, which basically means it was more economical and more efficient than the normal fuel," he said on arrival in Adelaide." Heres hoping that more research into the fuel is performed!! Please rate comment and subscribe if you liked my video, and be sure to check out my others. Cheers guys and girls!

The Benefits Of Using Biodiesel Cars
With gas prices rising above four dollars a gallon in some states, it is no wonder that citizens are looking to alternative fuel sources. However, with some types of energy substitutes, there are certain engine requirements that must be met in order for the vehicle to function properly. Enter biodiesel cars. These automobiles differ in not only their engine makeup but their comparative performance level as well. And as dependency on fossil fuels has proven detrimental to both our environment and our health, it is easy to see why the interest in cars fueled by biodiesel has skyrocketed.
